This single storey Dartmoor cottage was converted from a Bulb drying store,( Bramblemoor was a bulb farm at the turn of the last century). The owners completely renovated and updated the original cottage, to provide a very comfortable and well equipped property which is ideally positioned to offer a most varied holiday at any time of year. The garden is shared with visiting deer, badgers and a wide variety of birdlife. Early summer evenings can be blessed with a serenade from a nightingale. The owners’ animals ( including goats, tame sheep, hens and ducks) are managed within the Upland Management Scheme, organically.
Within a mile are to be found deep pools for swimming in the River Dart.This is a wonderful walking area and local stables provide for more extensive explorations.
The nearest shopping centre is Ashburton an attractive small Stannary town(5 miles). Widecombe (3 miles) has 2 pubs. Poundsgate has its own pubs, and Holne (3 miles) has both a community shop with a cafe, and a pub. Historical interest can be found in Totnes, Dartington and Tavistock, all within 14 miles, whilst the larger towns of Exeter, Plymouth are within 30 minutes drive. The spectacular South Devon coastline can easily be explored on day excursions, and visits to the seaside resorts of Torquay, Dartmouth and Salcombe can be incorporated into these trips. National Trust Properties abound in the area, and this area has some of the most stunning gardens in England.

Twin-bedded room (beds can be joined to form a kingsize bed), bathroom with shower over bath. Comfortable spring-based settee in the living room converts into a double bed. Immersion heater, or alternatively a back boiler controlled by the open fire (free initial fuel). Night storage heater with optional convector boost in the sitting room, with electric EcoWarm heaters in other rooms. Freeview TV, DVD player and good quality Digital radio with CD Player and iPod/USB connection.
Ample parking space (50 metres distant).
One dog accepted by arrangement, but must be well behaved and not left in the cottage on their own. It is requested that they are not allowed to sit on the furniture or sleep on the bed. The garden is not securely fenced, our own animals are contained away from the cottage, but the sheep are occasionally grazing the grass behind electric fencing in the orchard within the garden.
Sheets, Towels and Kitchen linen supplied at no extra charge. Guests are asked to bring swimming towels.
Electricity is included in the rental.
Free WiFi is available in the cottage.
From 2.00pm on Saturdays. We ask you to vacate the cottage not later than 10.00am on the morning of your departure. Normally only Saturday to Saturday bookings are available, but during off-season periods we may be able to arrange other arrival and departure days.
We have a no smoking policy in the cottage.
Should it become necessary to cancel a reservation, we make a full refund of the deposit if we are able to re-let. If this occurs after the balance has been paid, the same applies, however, if no re-let, no refund will be made. Cancellation insurance is, therefore, strongly recommended.
